Cruising Home Blue Motion, Düsseldorf

On-demand customization for a unique design

Location

Düsseldorf, Germany

A collaboration has been established between the world of water and Fiandre, introducing a youthful and increasingly trendy way of traveling. The “Blue Motion” brand presents a new floating home model designed for a more demanding market segment. In Germany and the Netherlands, houseboats are synonymous with free and flexible holidays. This project combines comfort and aesthetics, offering the pleasure of traveling in close contact with nature, with a touch of luxury.
Designed in three shades of blue, the Blue Motion cruising home stands out for its warm interiors and a sauna and shower area, perfect even during the cold northern months. The choice of materials required wave-resistant surfaces, large-format slabs, and minimal joints to ensure waterproofing and stability.
The collaboration with Fiandre was crucial: Maximum slabs 150×300 cm for walls and floors, processed with the support of Kölking-Wobbe, a specialist in customized applications of large Maximum slabs. Thanks to 3D scanning systems and CNC cutting technology, it was possible to adapt the ceramics to the boat’s complex geometry. The 6 mm thickness simplified installation, avoiding dust and dirt. Baqua GmbH also contributed with bespoke bathroom solutions, integrating Grohe’s AquaSymphony showerhead and an invisible drain capable of handling 160 liters per minute. Fiandre provided versatile and durable ceramics, ideal for lightweight and removable shower trays.
Interior designers engraved the initials “BM” of Blue Motion on the ceramic using DYS – Design Your Slabs technology, which allows full customization of color, size, and texture. DYS slabs, water-repellent and UV-resistant, guarantee durability and endless creative possibilities.
