Set within the Alpine landscape of Corvara, in the heart of Alta Badia, this private residence designed by Birghit Kostner expresses a contemporary way of living through a balanced dialogue with its mountain context. The architecture is discreetly embedded into the slope, following the natural morphology of the site while opening controlled views toward the Dolomites.

The exterior volume is defined by a clear, horizontal composition and the use of natural materials such as wood and mineral surfaces, in harmony with the surrounding forest and rock formations. Wooden screens and large glazed openings articulate the façades, balancing protection, privacy, and visual connection with the landscape.

The interiors unfold as a fluid and continuous sequence of spaces, characterized by a clear layout and a careful use of natural light, introduced through large openings and zenithal skylights. Wood plays a central role, bringing warmth and continuity, while stone and neutral finishes reinforce the connection to the Alpine environment. Wellness areas and bathrooms are conceived as more intimate, sensory spaces dedicated to relaxation and well-being.

A key role is played by Fjord ceramics by Fiandre, used for outdoor and indoor flooring as well as for the staircases. Inspired by natural stone, their material quality, durability, and tactile depth create visual continuity throughout the house and contribute to the timeless character of the architecture.

The project thus takes shape as a contemporary retreat, where tradition and modernity coexist in a measured and refined balance, offering a living experience deeply connected to place and to the rhythm of the mountains.
