The Split Airport redesign project has redefined the passenger experience, transforming the airport into a modern, functional, and welcoming environment. The intervention involved large public areas, halls, corridors, waiting zones, and gates, aiming to improve passenger flow, maximize natural light, and create more spacious and comfortable environments. Contemporary design elements, clean lines, and high-quality materials convey a sense of lightness and harmony, while lounges, dining areas, and service zones have been reimagined to optimize the traveler experience.
The project also enhances the city’s visual and cultural identity, integrating references to the Adriatic landscape and sea through natural color palettes and fluid architectural solutions that guide passengers and create a sense of continuity across the airport. Lighting, both natural and artificial, has been designed to highlight volumes and materials, while large windows bring in light and external views, making the spaces more welcoming and pleasant.
Fiandre ceramic surfaces have been applied mainly to floors, selecting formats and finishes that ensure durability, resistance, and ease of maintenance, harmoniously integrating with the airport’s overall aesthetic. Their quality and versatility help create a coherent, elegant, and functional environment capable of supporting intense airport traffic.
This redesign exemplifies how thoughtful architectural planning can transform an airport into a contemporary and welcoming space, enhancing passenger experience while reflecting the cultural and scenic identity of the area.
